SPORTS

Check the Events Calendar for the tournaments schedule.
For questions or inquiries about Sports, please contact our Sports Liaison

Equipment

During the summer, the lifeguards will have all new sports equipment to borrow during lifeguard hours, including:
  • pickleball equipment
  • volleyballs
  • basketballs
  • frisbees
  • bases
  • and more
Just talk to one of the guards about checking out the equipment. Be sure to return it!

If you have any used equipment (in good shape), please consider donating them.

Tennis

The Windermere Beach Club offers two tennis courts for the benefit and enjoyment of its dues-paying residents.  The courts are open for play year-round and generally available on a first-come, first-serve basis (subject to certain tournaments and tennis camps in the summer months).  If you are aware of any maintenance issues with the tennis courts, please contact the Sports Liaison (see link at top of page.)

Please remember that the courts are for the neighborhood.  One court per dues paying household at a time.  Two courts at the same for the same group means two dues paying households – one per court and participating in the play.  Tennis lessons for neighborhood children will reserve courts for their sessions and have priority over neighbors during those camps.  Times and dates will be published before Beach Opening Day.

Teams are not allowed to practice with coaches unless team members have one dues paying resident on each court at all times.  Court use is limited to an hour and 15 minutes or two sets.  Please observe this honor system.
If you are aware of any maintenance issues with the tennis courts, please contact the Sports Liaison.
Tennis Lessons
We are pleased to announce we will be offering children’s tennis lessons this summer.  Dates and contact info TBD.
Windermere Tennis Court Rules

  1. Windermere residents who have paid their dues and their non-resident guests (when members are present) may use courts.
  2. Adult children living outside Windermere are considered guests.
  3. Adults have priority over junior members and guests after 5:00 PM on weekdays and all day on weekends and holidays.  Children do have adult privileges when playing with an adult member.
  4. Courts must be relinquished to other waiting members after two sets, to commence when play began, not when waiting began.  When there are members waiting to play, the maximum waiting time is one hour.
  5. Non-marking tennis shoes must be worn at all times on the courts.
  6. Please remove trash from the courts, including tops from ball containers.  If you brought it in, take it out!
  7. No skateboarding, bicycling, scootering or rollerblading is allowed on the courts.
  8. When done playing, please close the gate to keep pets and other animals off the courts.

Sports Practice

Would you like to use part of the field or the basketball court for a sports event or practice? While Windermere Beach Club does not offer reservations for the field or court, we try to accommodate sports events or practices for younger children. Please contact the Sports Liaison with the following details:
  • Name of resident sponsoring event or practice
  • Dates and times for event or practice
  • Approximate number of participants
  • Cell phone number for resident sponsoring practice and coaches, if applicable
Please remember the Windermere Beach Club general park rules apply to sports events or practices and (i) non-Windermere neighborhood dogs are not allowed off-leash during events or practices; (ii) the sponsoring Windermere resident organizer (or other Windermere resident) must be present at each practice (and before and after if non Windermere residents attending the practice are guests in the park); and (iii) please be respectful of other residents using the park during your sports event or practice.

Windermere Yacht Club

Sail Away with the Windermere Yacht Club Today!
Would you like to join the sailing community of Windermere?

Shares in the 6 red Alpha Sailboats at the beach club are available for purchase and some are also available to borrow. Please contact the Sports Liaison if interested.

If you have a small non-motorized craft (kayak, canoe, paddle board, etc.) that you would like to keep in the locked boat storage area at the beach, please contact the Sports Liaison.

Boat storage is $125 for alpha sailboats, $25 for other craft. Please note that space is limited and there is currently a wait list.

Annual fees for use of the boat storage area are due for each boat or other non-motorized craft on or before May 31 for the current year.  If you do not pay your annual fees by June 30 of the current year, your boat or other non-motorized craft will be removed from the boat storage area and you will lose your storage space. Please be advised that Windermere Corp. is not responsible for any boat or other non-motorized craft so removed from the boat storage area.

Buoy Usage

There are buoys on the southwest side of the dock available for short term power boat use. Use of the buoys is a privilege afforded to dues-paying members. Buoys and cleats are funded by an annual fee of $75.

Please remit separate payment or you can include this fee with your normal annual dues.

Usage Guidelines

The following guidelines are suggested to ensure the enjoyment and safety of boating and non-boating members alike. Thank you in advance for conscientious conduct.
  1. Boats must display a Windermere Yacht Club registration decal.
Please register your boat with the Harbormaster to obtain one.
  2. Stay is limited to a maximum of 48 hrs. In periods of heavy use, please consider a shorter stay.
  3.  Spaces are for use as available, ‘saving’ a space by tying a float or fender is inconsiderate and unacceptable.
  4.  Buoys are suitable for use by small, light craft in calm conditions.
  5.  Tie-up is at boater’s own risk.
  6.  Boaters should use only proper mooring lines in good condition.
  7.  Please leave the load/unload section available exclusively for this purpose.
  8.  Please observe the 7 knot speed limit until well beyond the "No Wake" buoy.
  9.  Swimming is not permitted from moored boats or fromt he mooring side of the dock.
